Colour
The colour assessment is based on the absence of colour within the diamond. A chemically pure and perfect diamond is called colourless. The colour measure evaluates the level of colourlessness and applies a grading between D (colourless) and progresses to Z with most colour present in the diamond.
Carat
The Carat refers to the diamond weight. A metric carat is measured as 200 milligrams. With everything being equal a higher diamond carat would mean a higher price, but factors such as colour, clarity and cut will greatly impact the price depending on the grade chosen in each of these categories.
Clarity
A Sustainably Rated Diamond is a stone from an accredited diamond production operation that undergoes an exhaustive certification process where it is evaluated by an independent 3rd party certification body and found to be in accordance with the requirements SCS-007 jewellery sustainability standard.

Treatment
It is common for Sapphires to either be untreated or treated through a process of heating and pressure. Heating and pressure treatment is a standard industry practice that improves the clarity and enhances the color of sapphires. Some people prefer an untreated stone while others prefer Sapphires that have been treated.
